LET’S BE SYSTEMIC

EJMH Special Call for Articles on Family Therapy and Family Studies

The European Journal of Mental Health invites you to submit your work to its Family Therapy and Family Studies in Supporting Mental Health thematic compilation. The compilation will include selected peer-reviewed original research articles as well as reviews, published free and open-access, by early 2025.

The submission deadline is July 31, 2024.

The definition of mental health as bio-psycho-social-spiritual well-being assumes that we all live in networks of interconnected relationships. Families in a broad sense are in the center of these interactions. Systemic approaches in theory, research, and interventions are essential in today’s work for mental health. Therefore, we invite manuscripts on:

Ø current trends shaping contemporary family life

Ø research on families’ functioning and structure globally

Ø new concepts and innovative methods in couple and family therapy

Ø cross-cultural approaches in systemic theory and family studies

Ø the standing of couple and family therapy in Europe and beyond

Ø systemic interventions promoting mental health and wellbeing in families

Ø personal well-being in a family

 

Manuscript submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted via email: ejmh-editor@semmelweis.hu, until the deadline below.

We are inviting new quantitative and qualitative studies, as well as comprehensive (narrative, scoping, and systematic) literature reviews and meta-analyses inspired by theoretical or practical dilemmas. EJMH also welcomes perspective articles on fundamental concepts or prevalent ideas in family studies and/or in systemic theory and practice.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (max. 2000 characters including spaces) can be sent to the Editorial Office until May 31, 2024.

The final submission deadline is July 31, 2024.

All manuscripts that pass pre-screening are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.

There is no Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open-access journal.

EJMH Call for papers on Tobacco use, vaping, and mental health

(CLOSED CALL)

The European Journal of Mental Health invites you to submit your work to its Tobacco use, vaping, and mental health thematic compilation.

The compilation will include selected peer-reviewed original research articles, and reviews published free, and open-access by the end of 2023 and early 2024.

In recent years, numerous factors contributed to the global mental health crisis, including COVID-19, wars, and the climate crisis. But another serious threat arises now in our daily life exacerbating the mental health crisis, especially among youth: the tobacco industry and its rapidly, aggressively growing market of novel and emerging nicotine and tobacco products, like e.g., e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, besides conventional tobacco products. Saving the next generation, vulnerable populations, and whole societies from the enormous burden of tobacco-attributable mental illnesses and diseases should be a priority. Therefore, it would be essential to better understand the behavioral, biopsychosocial, socio-ecological, and social network links between mental health conditions as well as traditional and novel tobacco and nicotine delivery products.

We therefore invite manuscripts in the following – but not exclusive  – topics for this special compilation:

  • The association and predictors of combustible, heated tobacco products, and e-cigarette use involving patterns with mental health conditions not fully explored.
  • Scientific findings are scarce on exploring the role of social media and digital social networks in the relationship between tobacco use, vaping, and mental health.
  • Adolescence and young adulthood are high-risk periods for developing tobacco and nicotine dependence, and mental illnesses. Manuscripts presenting interventions, and best practices, are welcome on this topic.
  • The causal relationship between mental health and conventional as well as novel tobacco and nicotine delivery product use initiation, as well as continuation, should be further clarified.
  • Mental health conditions may be a barrier to quitting using tobacco and nicotine delivery products and may influence cessation outcomes. Studies about utilizing social support through various platforms to promote and manage the cessation process in various vulnerable populations are also welcome.

The submission deadline is June 30, 2023.

Manuscripts should be submitted via email: ejmh-editor@semmelweis.hu. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-screening will be peer-reviewed. Original research articles and review articles are both welcome. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (max. 2000 characters, including spaces) can be sent to the Editorial Office until May 15, 2023.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. European Journal of Mental Health is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, free open access, continuously publishing, and non-profit journal published by Semmelweis University.  It is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index, APA PsycInfo, and DOAJ. Our journal promotes a broader understanding of mental health and well-being through developmental and life-course perspectives, relational and systemic approaches, social-ecological views, and transdisciplinary thinking.
